76ers Gaming Club (GC) (2-1) split its Week 3 matchups on Thursday and Friday at the NBA 2K League Studio Powered by Intel in New York City. In its first game of the week, 76ers GC came out on top against Celtics Crossover Gaming (0-3), 71-48, while game two saw 76ers GC fall to Kings Guard Gaming (4-2), 64-60, in a close-knit contest. Through Week 3, 76ers GC’s record of 2-1 is tied for the sixth-best in the league.
The Thursday evening affair saw a rematch of the championship game of THE TIPOFF, powered by AT&T, and for the second time this month 76ers GC was able to earn a victory over Celtics Crossover Gaming.
Leading by one after game’s opening frame, 76ers GC put together their best quarter of the regular season outscoring Celtics Crossover Gaming, 20-5, in the second period. 76ers GC maintained a double-digit lead throughout the rest of game thanks to an efficient night from the field (29-43, .674) and three-point range (9-17, .529).
76ers GC point guard Ethan “Radiant” White was named the Intel Player of the Game as he scored 20 points and handed out a game and season-high 16 assists. He has posted three point-assist double-doubles this season and is averaging 20.3points and 9.0 assists per game.
76ers GC center Alexander “Steez” Bernstein benefited from a strong pick-and-roll game between he and Radiant and tallied a season-high 22 points to go along with a game-high 10 rebounds. The Orange County, California native also turned away a season-high three shots.
76ers GC power forward Christopher “BreadwinnerLA_” Lafanette contributed across the board with eight points, nine rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block, while going a perfect 33 from the floor and 2-2 from charity stripe.
Celtics Crossover Gaming was led by center Terry “NOxAUTOGRAPHSx” Jackson, who recorded his first double-double of the regular season with 14 points and 15 rebounds, while small forward Alexander “ProFusion” Snowden had his second straight 15-plus point performance with 16.
The second game of the week was played on Friday against Kings Guard Gaming and 76ers GC stayed within five points for majority of the contest.
Kings Guard Gaming notched the game’s largest lead (eight) with just under two minutes left in the fourth quarter. From there, 76ers GC went on a 7-2 run and had an attempt with 31.8 seconds left to cut the lead to one. The shot hit every part of the rim, but would not drop.
Once again, Steez’s production in the pick-and-roll proved difficult for the opposition’s defense as he put up a stat line of 17 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Through three regular-season games, he holds the averages of 17.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per contest.
76ers GC small forward Rashann “ZDS” Petty continued his hot start to the season with 17 points and a season-high six assists. ZDS has reached double figures in points in all eight contests this season and has made four-or-more shots from beyond the arc in five of the eight outings.
76ers GC shooting guard Antonio “Newdini33” Newman scored 10 points, brought down two rebounds, dished out two assists and stole the ball twice. Knocking down four of his six attempts from field, this was the third time in as many regular-season games he finished a with a field-goal percentage of at least .600.
Kings Guard Gaming center Jhade “worthingcolt_” Black received Intel Player of the Game honors producing an 18-point, 16-rebound double-double. Point guard Michael “Bp” Diaz and Waseem “BallLikeSeem” Talbert combined for 28 points and converted seven three-pointers.
