76ers Gaming Club (GC) (10-5, fourth in NBA 2K League) won both of its Week 11 matchups on Thursday and Friday at the NBA 2K League Studio Powered by Intel in New York City. In its first game of the week, 76ers GC beat Wizards District gaming (6-8), 76-60, while Game 2 had a similar result, as 76ers GC topped Pacers Gaming (8-6), 71-55. The back-to-back victories move 76ers GC’s record to 10-5, placing the team fourth in the NBA 2K League.
76ers GC and Wizards District Gaming’s Thursday night contest marked the first matchup between the two teams in the 2019 2K League season. It was a back-and-forth battle throughout the first three quarters, but a late 76ers GC push proved to be too much for Wizards District Gaming to handle.
Following a dead-even first half (32-32), the third quarter ended with Ethan “Radiant” White burying a three with 1.5 seconds left, pushing the score to 51-48, in favor of 76ers GC. The fourth quarter was all 76ers GC, as the team outscored its opponent, 25-12 over the final 12 minutes. 76ers GC’s ability to move the ball was on display in the final frame, as the team was able to capitalize and hit open threes.
Radiant posted game highs with 22 points and 17 of the team’s 23 assists. Christopher “BreadwinnerLA” Lafanette finished as the second leading scorer with 21 points (8-8 FG, 4-4 3FG) to go along with six rebounds. Alexander “Steez” Bernstein joined Radiant and BreadwinnerLA in double figures, as he finished with an 18-point, 11-rebound double-double.
Game 2 against Pacers Gaming had a similar feel to Game 1. After a tied first quarter, 76ers GC went up by four on Pacers Gaming at the half, leading 31-27. BreadwinnerLA hit a jumper to close out the third, giving 76ers GC an eight-point lead going into the fourth quarter. 76ers GC never looked back in the closing quarter, outscoring Pacers Gaming, 22-14, and thus leapfrogging them in the 2K League standing.
Radiant was the leading scorer for the second consecutive game, contributing a game-high 30 points on 11-21 shooting from the field, including 6-13 from three-point range. Steez again led the team in rebounding, collecting 13 of the team’s 18 boards, while also chipping in nine points in the victory. BreadwinnerLA (10 points), Rashann “ZDS” Perry (11) and Manuel “Newdini33” Newman all scored in double figures as part of a balanced attack from 76ers GC.
At 10-5, 76ers GC now owns the fourth-best record in the NBA 2K League.
