TIPOFF Preview | Opportunity for a Three-Peat
June 15, 2020
76ers Gaming Club (GC) enters the first in-season tournament of Season 3 with nothing but opportunity.
An opportunity for a three-peat, included.
The first of the NBA 2K League’s three in-season tournaments, THE TIPOFF powered by AT&T will tip off for the third time ever this week.
76ers GC is the two-time defending champion.
Each of the league’s 23 teams will compete in the tournament remotely from their local markets, with eight teams advancing to the playoffs following two days of pool play.
“We are ready to defend our back-to-back TIPOFF Tournament titles,” said 76ers GC Head Coach and 2019 NBA 2K League Coach of the Year Jeff Terrell.
That quest begins Tuesday.
76ers GC will compete in Group 1, alongside Pistons GT and NetsGC. 76ers GC will match up with Pistons GT on Tuesday at 6 p.m. ET and NetsGC at 10 p.m. ET for the right to advance to the playoffs on Thursday and Friday.
THE TIPOFF also offers 76ers GC the chance to get in the win column for the first time this season. Terrell, whose club remains the winningest team in 2K League history, welcomes the opportunity to turn the tide.
“We are improving as a team and we feel confident in our gameplay and abilities.”
Veteran players Radiant, Scretty and Steez were key members of the TIPOFF Tournament-winning team each of the past two seasons.
In fact, Radiant is the reigning two-time MVP at THE TIPOFF.
“I am eager to see how Radiant plays during this tournament,” Terrell stated. “He is ready to get out there and show the world who he really is.”
By the end of the week, 76ers GC could have its third TIPOFF title in as many years. Terrell recognizes the significance of this event for his guys.
“This is a great opportunity for our team to continue making history.”
